The Catholic Diocese of Broome
The Catholic Diocese of Broome is monitoring a trial underway in the Perth District Court. The former Bishop of Broome, Christopher Saunders, faces serious charges. The allegations are deeply distressing, particularly for those making the claims. It is appropriate that a court hears these allegations.
While the matter is before the Court, our diocese is unable to make any comment.
Our diocese understands that this trial may be upsetting. We will have in place a pastoral process of sharing for those who feel they would like to participate.
